Well, here we are. A revamped website. A digital home for my stories, scars, and slightly suspect roadside snack recommendations. If you’ve stumbled across this page looking for luxury motorcycle travel, polished influencer poses, or people who only ride when the weather’s dry—this probably isn’t the place for you.
But if you like tales of muddy roads, blown tyres, spontaneous roadside friendships, and camping in a tent with a cat on it… welcome, my friend. You’re in the right place.
Who Am I, and Why Am I Always Cold?
I’m The Arctic Rider—motorcycle adventurer, charity fundraiser, and man with a habit of going very far north on not-so-fancy bikes for reasons that seem sensible at the time. Since 2011, I’ve been raising money for causes close to my heart—Cerebra, Tiny Lives Trust, the National Autistic Society—riding thousands of miles in sometimes questionable weather, all inspired by my younger brother and my kids.
This site is where I’ll be sharing my stories. The good. The bad. And the “I think I just rode past a bear” kind of stuff.
What Kind of Articles Can You Expect?
🛞 Real-World Gear Reviews
Not sponsored fluff, but actual reviews from the road. If I’m raving about a Keis heated vest or a Suzuki V-Strom 650XT, it’s because they’ve kept me alive when I really needed them to—not because someone sent me a free pair of gloves (still waiting on that, by the way).
🏕️ Adventure Ride Reports
Like the time I did 774 miles in two days just to camp under a bridge on the Isle of Skye… and loved every second of it. Or when I crashed in Sweden, didn’t fall off a cliff (somehow), and learned that resilience sometimes looks like eating Lidl sandwiches alone in Örnsköldsvik.
🍕 The Biker Brotherhood Diaries
From Hans in Oslo helping me out after a crash, to Ethan and Kim putting me up in Anchorage (twice!), I’ve met some of the kindest people on Earth through motorcycling. This site will celebrate those friendships—the kind that start with “Nice bike” and end with beer and pizza.
🧠 Life Lessons From the Saddle
Things I’ve learned while stuck in the mud, lost in the mountains, or questioning my life choices somewhere north of the Arctic Circle. Humbling, human, and occasionally hilarious.
Why Bother Reading This Stuff?
Because you don’t need to quit your job and ride round the world to have an adventure.
Because you can balance work, family, and a stubborn need to go somewhere remote on two wheels.
Because adventure isn’t about how far you go—it’s about why you go.
Stick Around
There’s more to come—more rides, more mishaps, more moments that make you believe in the goodness of people (and occasionally question your own decision-making).
So buckle up. Or rather, zip up your textiles, plug in your heated gear, and clip in your air vest.
This is The Arctic Rider. And the adventure’s just getting started.
See you on the road.
