Day Four - update two
Good evening
Day four has seen Gordon travelling from Germany to Landskrona in Sweden, which is just north of Malmo and in doing so has crossed two bridges which are 18km long each..I am told they are the longest in Europe but this may be a fact from gordopedia rather than any real thing! lol
Gordon has been re-visiting places from our first navy deployment together and he decided to go to the exact spot where we met and to celebrate he had a big mac!! ever the romantic! He also went back to Middelfart..yes it still makes me giggle and passed other nautically related places such as Varborg and Aalborg.
Conditions today for Gordon have been very windy whilst riding and he has been rained on today a few times on and off. This means that the power ranger all in one suit has been whipped out a few times today. He also told me on the phone that the wind is so bad that he is camping under a tree and is having to boil his water for his gourmet pasta and pesto meal in the tent! Talking of water, one thing that makes me laugh is that everytime Gordon buys any bottled water, he always seems to end up with sparkling and not still..clearly those bubbles just aren't a telling enough signal to him.
When on the motorway today, Gordon got overtaken by a French bike rider and he later saw him at the same camp site..maybe he is so bored on his own that he is stalking him...and apparently this monsieur is also going to Nordkapp and is due to be there on the same date! This guy also spent 3 years organising this trip and think he may have fallen off his bike if he had of realised how long it took us to organise..each to their own eh.. Unfortunately however, this fella is travelling the distance in 2 weeks and is going a different route to Gordon so they will not be able to strengthen foreign relations and travel together!
The plan tomorrow is for him to travel to somewhere which is in the region of 30 miles south of Stockholm. Since day 3, he has been about 30 miles behind the original schedule which he will try and catch up on later on in the trip when he has had some rest.
In general, when I spoke to him on the phone he seemed more cheery than yesteday which is good and I think this is partially because he was able to get online and read all the lovely messages that people are leaving him, so please keep putting more comments on here or facebook or wherever!
That's it for now, Good night all
